Hypospadias

CONGENITAL CIRCUMCISION .

What is Hypospadias?

Hypospadias (congenital circumcision – prophetic circumcision) is a congenital structural disorder characterized by the opening of the urine hole to an earlier point on the front surface of the penis instead of the tip of the penis. It occurs in one out of 300 male live births. As the urinary hole moves away from the tip of the penis, the severity of the disorder increases, but the likelihood of it occurring decreases. The most common form is near the tip of the penis (glanular) and the least common is the perineal type.

The majority of patients with hypospadias (congenital circumcision) have a band that extends between the existing urinary hole, called the chordee, and the tip of the penis. This band causes the penis to curve forward in the form of “C” during penile erection. If not corrected, it can cause intercourse problems. This formation should be removed during surgery.

All patients should also be systematically examined for other organ abnormalities and intravenous pyelograms should be performed. In addition to hypospadias, testicles, kidney abnormalities, hernias and other congenital abnormalities can occur.

Hypospadias

In a patient with hypospadias (congenital circumcision) there is a difference in the structure of the penis. The urethra and corpus spongiosum have not formed. The band called Chordee curves forward and creates distortions. It is mostly in the form of a spatula and has a flatter appearance. The foreskin is missing in the front.

Hypospadias Treatment

The penis is expected to be of sufficient size for surgery. This period is determined by the surgeon. In general, however, children with hypospadias should be operated on before primary school begins and this situation should be corrected. Since children with hypospadias cannot easily empty their urine while standing, psychological problems can arise. However, the surgeon must be experienced in this regard.

Hypospadias (congenital circumcised) operations are usually carried out by doctors of various specialties. One thing that should not be forgotten is the operation with the highest chance of success. The possibility of success in repeated operations becomes more difficult. For this reason, you should pay attention to the doctor you choose for the operation as an experienced plastic surgeon. Because hypospadias surgery techniques are generally based on flap and graft applications and flap and graft applications are the primary responsibility of plastic surgeons.

The most important point that the family needs to know is that children with hypospadias anomaly should not be circumcised. Because the foreskin is a very important source of replacement skin to create a new urinary tract or to close the front of the penis during surgery. Accordingly, it is performed during the operation during the circumcision. It is generally preferable to do the surgery before the child goes to school. There are many techniques for surgery that vary depending on the surgeon’s preference and the opening of the urinary tract on the penis.
