What is fat injection?
Fat injection is injecting the fat tissue removed from abdomen, thigh, hip and other parts of the body after processing through a specific procedure into required areas.
Where is the fat most commonly injected?
Fat is commonly applied to fill descended cheeks and smiling lines between the mouth and nose, to remove descending and irregularities on the skin, to clear forehead lines and to fill the lips or to eliminate contour irregularities on the body.
How is fat removal and injection done?
Local or general anesthesia is applied according to the fat quantity to be removed. Fat is pulled out by applying negative pressure by an injector from previously determined areas. Fats removed are left for filtering in the injector for separation of serum and fat cells. Then, fat cells are taken into small injectors from middle part of the injector which includes fat cells more and they are injected into the application site.
What are fat removal and fat injection needles like?
For face injections, 2.4 mm cannula for fat removal and 0.7 mm, 0.9 mm and 1.2 mm cannulas for fat injection basing on the different sites are used.
For body injections, 3.1 mm cannula should be used for fat removal and 1.2 mm and 1.6 mm cannulas should be used for fat injection.
Is fat filling permanent?
Vitality rate of the fat cells in the transferred area is accepted as 50%. In other words, half of the fat cells injected is permanent. Therefore, fat injection should be considered as two sessions to be able to obtain a satisfyingly permanent filling. Effect obtained at the end of 2 sessions is preserved for years. Sessions should be applied by an interval of 4 or 6 months et least.
In which layers is fat injected?
To increase permanency of fat cells, it may be injected into different layers such as subcutaneous tissue, fat tissue, muscle tissue.
Is recovery fast after fat injection?
If the fat transfer site is wider, resting for 2 to 3 days will be sufficient. However, since the application sites are smaller on the face, you may return to normal life after 1 day from the treatment. Slight edema and bruises may appear on the fat removal site and fat injection site; but these may be made invisible by concealers. You should protect yourself from sunlight for 1 week.
